E-Waste: The Ghost of Gadgets Past

01/06/2025

eWAsTER project in collaboration with the Spanish partner RSU-Malaga, is launching a creative new campaign “E-Waste: The Ghost of Gadgets Past” to raise awareness about the hidden cost—and surprising potential—of electronic waste.

The campaign takes a lighthearted look at a serious problem: the millions of outdated phones, cables, and electronics haunting junk drawers and closets around the world. Many of these forgotten devices contain valuable materials like gold, copper, and rare earth elements, yet they are often discarded rather than responsibly recycled.

Through a series of eye-catching “Did You Know?” digital cards, created by RSU-Malaga, the campaign highlights bizarre and surprising facts about e-waste, encouraging the public to think differently about the devices they no longer use.

Let’s face it – we all have a graveyard of old tech collecting dust. But what many people don’t realize is that these ‘ghost gadgets’ could be recycled, reused, or even bring new life to other devices!

The campaign combines humor with education, aiming to make the topic of electronic waste more accessible and relatable. Whether it’s an iPod Shuffle from 2004 or a drawer full of mystery cables, the message is simple: don’t let your old electronics haunt you—or the planet.

📢 Call to Action:
📸 Swipe. Think. Recycle.
