Following the introduction, Mr. Enrico Anghileri, Project Manager for UCPB, presented the objectives of the EWAsTER project and the specific activities planned under the Pilot Action “WEEE BEHAVE,” aimed at increasing awareness and proper management of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) through educational and community engagement initiatives.
The meeting was attended by representatives from local primary and secondary schools, municipal authorities, private companies, and the local police. Key points discussed included:
- Organising an educational WEEE competition for 4th and 5th grade students.
- Preparing an age-appropriate educational session for pupils.
- Defining competition rules based on the quantity and type of WEEE collected.
- Planning study visits for students to local recycling centres and companies.
- Exploring partnerships with local waste management companies to support the initiative and sponsor prizes.
- Scheduling all activities between October and November 2025, in line with school calendars and project deadlines.
The event concluded with a strong commitment from all participants to support and collaborate in the initiative.
The meeting marked the first step towards the practical implementation of the Pilot Action “WEEE BEHAVE,” setting the foundations for awareness-raising activities that will contribute to the circular management of e-waste in the region.
All stakeholders will continue to be involved throughout the development of the Pilot Action and will receive regular updates on its progress.
