The Mediterranean Sea: A Victim and a Mirror of Our Actions

29/05/2025

Although it’s surrounded by developed nations, the Mediterranean Sea is one of the most polluted in the world. Its enclosed nature means that pollution—especially from land—accumulates rather than disperses.

Among the growing threats? E-waste. From small items like batteries and earbuds to larger electronics like TVs and computers, this waste is becoming alarmingly common.

E-waste is:
🔹 Full of valuable materials (copper, aluminum, plastic—even gold)
🔹 Laced with hazardous substances that harm the environment and our health
🔹 Packed with reuse potential – if we know how to repair, disassemble, and repurpose it

Our partner Environmental Research Institute (ORZ) in Slovenia took action by engaging young people in hands-on workshops that explored real solutions to this global problem. These future ambassadors of the circular economy learned:
🛠️ How to take apart old electronics
♻️ How to separate and reuse materials
🧪 How to turn waste plastic into new creations
🌍 Why their actions matter in protecting nature

Explanation circular use of resources
Circular use resources means that materials and products we use as soon as possible longer time, them at malfunctions we extend life period and after the end uses we are looking for new options their Instead of electronic devices we throw them away:
· let’s fix it
· let’s upgrade
· disassemble for components parts
· or them creative use for others purposes

With this reduce quantity waste, we protect natural resources and reduce carbon footprint!

The events in Slovenia for students offered more than just a theory – they got experience of how can alone contribute to sustainability and learned :
· that you can with small actions at home and at school reduce generation of e-waste
· yes it is not each broken product to cart
· yes in the old days devices it’s a dick creative potential
· that it is responsible resource management key for the future our planet

Display circular uses resources (e-waste), is proof that knowledge, practice and sustainability can go hand in hand. With innovative approaches, such as them develops ORZ, young people they get insight into specific solutions for global challenges – and they become ambassadors circular economy future.

Thanks to these creative and empowering initiatives, we believe the next generation now understands “Why e-waste is both a challenge and an opportunity?”
